Delhi Minimum Wages

As per notification published in the official Delhi Gazette dated 5th May 2018, the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi has amended the Minimum Wages Act, 1948 in its application to the National Capital Territory of Delhi. As per the amendment the definition of State Government has been stated. The amendment has also listed components to be considered in fixing or revising the minimum rates of the wages. As per the amended Notification even the 'Apprentices' are covered under the ESI Act.

Please go through the attached Gazette Notification of India dt.25.05.2010 issued by Deparment of Law & Justice and as per the amended Notification even the 'Apprentices' are covered under the ESI Act.

The Clause in the Employees’ State Insurance (Amendment) Act, 2010 reads as follows:

(B) in clause (9), for the words “or under the standing orders of the establishment”, the words “includes such person engaged as apprentice who training period is extended to any length of time” shall be substituted;.
